When it comes to equipping your home with EV charging facilities, one of the most common questions to arise is a question about how much it costs to fit a home EV charger. (And, surprisingly, the next common question we get regarding arranging EV charging facilities is about an EV Charger Maintenance Contract.)

When you can expect EV charger fitting to cost around £140

In general, £140 is the price for home EV charger installation we charge at LE Company under the following circumstances:

• No additional works are necessary
  
• Installation can be completed with 3 metres of the cable or less
  
• An EV charger is one by our partner, Auto-E, a company that sells EV charging stations of its own manufacturing
  

Typically, 3 metres of the cable could be enough if you locate your EV charger almost near your main electrical panel.

When you should expect higher costs

To tell the truth, installations that fall under the circumstances that we described above in this post are more a minority rather than a majority. In most cases, the installations are more complicated. And, here, we are not talking about an EV charger make and model you are going to install. In other words, of course, you can buy an EV charging station by any manufacturer and turn to us for its installation.

Here, we are talking about technical requirements and work to undertake in order to fit your home EV charger. That is to say, most of the jobs we have completed involved the following aspects:

• The current electrical panel is not sufficient for the additional load and requires some upgrade
• The place of EV charger location is much further from the main electrical panel than 3 metres

In other words, in most cases, fitting an EV charger requires additional time to complete the task and extra materials to use, for example, a longer cable. Thus, in such cases, the costs of fitting an EV charger may be twice and even thrice higher than £140.
