When you want to arrange EV charging facilities within an OZEV chargepoint grant scheme (both residential and commercial), a normal electrician is not the specialist to apply to. To clarify, you are eligible to get grant funding only when you engage an authorised EV charger installer to fit your unit.

What does the term “an authorised EV charger installer” stand for? To be short, it means the electrical must be:

• Registered within a specific Competent Person Scheme
• Authorised by the OZEV

Note, authorisation with the OZEV is not automatic but requires a special application. Moreover, there are specific lists of CPS operators, under which schemes an electrician is eligible for authorisation with the OZEV for residential and commercial EV charging stations.
