Restaurant’s reopening: how to get your coffee machine readyFor more than a year, your coffee machine has been out of use because of the pandemic. Fortunately, now you are reopening your restaurant and this means your latte or cappuccino maker will soon be in intensive use again. In turn, this means you need to get the appliance ready for use. To clarify, the preparation includes pre-use maintenance and safety examination and ensures the following aspects:
Undertake pre-use maintenanceFirst, the equipment that is not in use for a long time is mothballed. Typically, this means it is unplugged and even partially disassembled. In case of a coffee machine, you generally disassemble its group heads, handles, and filters. So, the first preparation step here is to assemble the equipment and plug it into a socket. Third, clean the machine. This way, you will get rid of all residues and scales that may spoil the beverage flavour. Here, the task includes:
At last, prepare cups for use. In other words, wash them and put them in their right places – on the top of the machine. Undertake pre-use safety examinationAccording to the Pressure System Safety Regulation 2000, all pressure systems must undergo safety examinations regularly. Besides, if the system was out of use for a long time, its pre-use examination is a must. Your commercial coffee machine generates steam and, thus, belongs to the pressure systems. Therefore, in accordance with the PSSR 2000, you shall undertake a pre-use safety examination for your latte or cappuccino maker. Note, only a certified competent person can carry out the safety examination with subsequent drawing a written report. So, if you have such a person on your board, make sure he did not forget to inspect the appliance. However, in case you lack an in-house competent person, arrange a visit of an independent one.
